YEREVAN, DECEMBER 28, KINOPRESS. The government has approved the “Procedure for granting the status of co-production.” This is the second adopted procedure regulating the industry within the framework of the RA law “On Cinematography”.
The need to make a decision is due to the circumstances of ensuring the application of the RA law “On Cinematography”, creating favorable conditions for foreign investment and intensification of economic activity in the field, generating additional income, developing co-production, as well as clarifying and legally regulating the conditions for the creation of international film projects.
Co-production in Armenia is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the European Convention on Cinematographic Co-production.
This status is not yet valid in the Republic of Armenia, but in order to reform the sphere, it was established by the RA law “On Cinematography” and is currently subject to enforcement.
In order to grant the status of co-production, legal relations have been established that comply with international standards, which will contribute to increasing the competitiveness of national films, mutually beneficial and transparent cooperation between public authorities and the private sector, as well as the international distribution of national films.
The granting of the status of joint production and its termination is carried out by the National Authority, which will be established in the near future.
