On January 5th, the winners of the Golden Globe Awards were announced in Los Angeles. Among the films, the leader with ten nominations was the Cannes triumph “Emilia Perez.” In the television category, the top contender was the Hulu series “The Bear,” with five nominations. “Emilia Perez” had already won five nominations at the European Film Awards and was also nominated by France in the Oscar category for Best International Film.

Yura Borisov was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in “Anora.” Along with him, the nominees in this category included Kieran Culkin, Edward Norton, Guy Pearce, Jeremy Strong, and Denzel Washington.

The nominees for Best Actor in a Drama were Timothée Chalamet, Adrian Brody, Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Sebastian Stan, and Colman Domingo. For Best Actress in a Dramatic Film, the nominees were Pamela Anderson, Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Tilda Swinton, Fernanda Torres, and Kate Winslet.

In the Best Motion Picture — Drama category, the following films were nominated: “Brutalist” by Brady Corbet, “A Complete Unknown” by James Mangold, “Conclave” by Edward Berger, “Dune 2” by Denis Villeneuve, “The Nickel Boys” by RaMell Ross, and “September 5th” by Tim Fehlbaum. The nominees for Best Comedy or Musical included “Emilia Perez,” “Substance” by Coralie Fargeat, “Real Pain” by Jesse Eisenberg, “Anora” by Sean Baker, “Challengers” by Luca Guadagnino, and “Wicked” by Jon M. Chu. Other nominations for “Emilia Perez” included Best Director and Best Screenplay, Best Lead Actress and Best Supporting Actress, Best Original Score, Best Song, and Best International Film.

In the television categories, the latest season of the series “The Bear,” about a young chef who moves to Chicago to take over a family business, led the nominations.

The awards ceremony, hosted by Nikki Glaser, took place on Sunday, January 5, 2025. It was broadcast on CBS and Paramount+.
