Filmmaker and animation director Vrej Kassouny was reappointed as Armenia’s national representative to Eurimages, the Council of Europe’s cultural support fund, in June 2026. The appointment is mentioned in his biography published on the official website of the Golden Apricot International Film Festival.
Neither the Armenian authorities nor Eurimages has issued a separate official announcement regarding the reappointment.
Kassouny previously represented Armenia at Eurimages from 2016 to 2019. The national representative serves on the fund’s Board of Management, participating in the development of its policies, strategic priorities and guiding principles.
Vrej Kassouny is a filmmaker, animation director, actor, painter, caricaturist and digital artist. He was born in Aleppo, Syria, and lives and works in Armenia.
In 2001, Kassouny founded reACT Production, an animation and film production studio. In 2008, he established ReA International Animation Film and Comics Art Festival of Yerevan, widely known as ReAnimania.
Before Kassouny’s reappointment, Armenia was represented within Eurimages structures by film professionals Susanna Harutyunyan and Melikset Karapetyan. Karapetyan stepped down from the fund’s Board of Management in 2023, while Harutyunyan continued to represent Armenia in Eurimages working groups until June 2026.
Armenia has been a member of Eurimages since January 1, 2016. The fund supports European film co-production, distribution and exhibition.
